Hello all,
There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The Golden Compass". The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series. Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children ". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed."While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of Jesus Christ. "The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season (and staring Nicole Kidman), and will probably be heavily advertised. Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas. Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass this information along to everyone you know (including church leaders). This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie. Hello all,There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The Golden Compass". I miss the Kallang Studium.
I miss the fond memories of the cedar cheers, the rain and sweat smell.haha.. i mean this are the memories that i will bring with me as i watched the grand Old Dame farewell Yesterday.
I din go for the event that evening but as i read about it in the news, the memories just came flooding back.
I remember in the year 2003, when Cedar Girls were invited to do the welcome dance for the NDP.We trained hard and i remembered it was the same year that MUFC played against Singapore and even though we were trashed 8-1. I'm proud to say that at least there was a score against them and it is not a NIL result. My friend, an avid fan of the football club, touched the grass where the players trod on. ahah..and to her, that was the closest moment in reality of being a red devil.

2003, we danced under the TLC and guidance of instructor, gan.. haha, and Ms Lee was like the mother superior then. Exerting the right authority and she has my respect for that.. :)
We had sashes and fans , golden kimono tops , white skirt-pants, and this made us look very very Jap! haha, the hair-do was great as i never had my hair layered with so much gels and sprays before.haha, Not forgetting the long white socks!

We were a fun bunch! Compared with the other schools
haha GIRLs mah..

The National Track and Fields Championships held there before they relocate it to CCK stadium.. oh man, the atmosphere.. ahha it was intense as we cheer on with shouts of hoorraah and claps not forgetting the Victorious School song that ended up like a Victory Cry! haha
I really enjoyed the moments then.. I had this privillege as i was part of the school's Track and Field Team..haha. watching the National best, National record holders.. i remembered i saw uk Shyam!! cool huh! He was in an intense gaze..at the trackers running.. and some of the pple there asked him to sign on their shirts and he was so nice to do so..

National Sprinter with a Big heart!

I remembered we dance in the rain and cheered as Our 4x100 relay girls took the gold!
I respect them for all their hard effort in keeping the Cedar Legacy!

I played minesweeper in 8 seconds!
I would like to thank Sean Koh who first started this minesweeper mania in me, Wei Yun , who is my master cos she taught me ! haha, and lastly, i would like to thank Bill gates for making Minesweeper a common game in every computer.
i mean how hard is it to find a game of minesweeper, with that around, who invented the gameboy!?

the day i post 2 posts

tell me more , tell me more ...

Nowadays, things are getting easier to take, like you can drink 'wadever' or' anything' you want if you are undecided and the face of the drink attendent turns sour with every passing second.
haha, what bliss and what a genius! but truly i these things as simple as they look, i think the novelty will soon wear down. Perhaps people will think twice before they say the word 'wadever' or 'anything' !! As ofthen , many of us, out of fear of being self-centred , or fear of being unreasonable to pple around us, would voice out a 'anything' or 'wadever'...Sometimes i also do it out of indecisiveness..

oh man , wadever la!

What a common phrase!

perhaps the best used and most undervalued word of the century should be 'WADEVER'

ya right! (:
hi ,can you do me a favour, i need to decide with the people here at NUS and NTU whether they can allow me to take both courses at the same time?hahaha, narcissistic is the way to go?
well, i m so slack.. so many things that i said i wanted to do yet i could nt find the time to..
here's the list:
1) Learn Driving-class 3
2)watch Dramas-Gong, kim sam soon, engine, hana kimi..
3)Get a good holiday break, perhaps one to thailand..
4)Get a movie marathon to watch all the movies..spidey, shrek,pirates-arghhh
muahaha
all these activities does not sound as wholesome in the end... maybe that;s why it took me quite a while to engage in it.
actually there is one more..
5) Get fit
haha, the last one is more about the physical than any hting to do with the spiritual.. includes eating and sleeping well, includes excercising and all this takes a little bit more effort and time.

watching people live , especially watching superstars on street? Nah they are too reel to be real..and the thing with them is that they don't walk about in the streets with tons of bouncers or guards, they will slowly and unsuspectingly creep into our neighbourhood stores in the best disguise, that is to have no wall of defence at all. They simply dress simple, walk with the air of a superstar with the steps of the common-folk.

tada!. i blogged today.
i got a preety neat job now @Nus. i got time cause now i end work at 6!! heh.. The food is great ( before i get tired ), the place is air con, the office is super quiet though..

i was flipping thru the papers and they had a recent interview with Utt( Just yest :monday's) the photo shoot nake him look extra good! haha, funny to say that! But i think those pple with mixed oriental look are extra-good looking! haha, cos oriental looking is already very nice!

And today premiered the movie of the month- Spiderman 3!
i din catch it yet, maybe sometime later ..
Soon there will also be Pirates of the Carribean.. as well as Shrek 3!
wow, i must start saving a fund for all these already!
look at it that way and maybe thru cutting down on food , i can lose weight as well! hhah
getting heavier by the day especially with a desk-bound job.

i want to relieve those days where there is the blood pumping , sweat trickling, muscle-aching kind of days.. especially getting a tan together with it.

Wednesday, April 11

bleagh..
i dunno whether is this a good news or bad news cos everytime i think about it it really irks me.
cos on one hand , we must not be so mean to leave so suddenly, but on the other hand, i feel like it is God who allowed this to happen so that i can make the switch.

if only u knew what i'm talking about, give u a hint-rice bowls.

Not Yoshinaya, haha, not any japanese rice set or anything but that i mean i got a job starting soon at NUS. whee
so what ever plans u have for me Lord, i know tt it is in Ur Good hands.

Sunday, April 8

heyhey everyone..
i totally missed the sound of rapid clicking of the keys , not the doorkeys but at the keyboard !
so much has happened and now we are all grown up in this fast-moving society, where it is in Singapore that i call home.
Betcha din noe that Singapore is turning into more than garden city, the hot wheels are coming to city hall, by that i mean the F1 cars will be zooming to town .. with the merlion and the ferris wheel , the durian ( esplanade ) and other interesting buildings ( scotts towers, reflections) that are springing up with a nice-looking price tag.

with the high life that is coming to Singpaore, i wonder if the next generation, that is kids like us are prepared for it. Imagine a daily happening nght life( imagination only), a weekly movie retreat at The Cathay, a monthly getaway gamble at the IR ( there is gg to be 2 IRs), a yearly annual events like F1 racing, watching world billards championships... who needs to visit the Zoo or the botanical gardens during the school holidays where all the attraction is gg to be at sentosa and marina bay!!

That is why , kids today NEED to be warned especially about the dangers that all these social ills. Who said that the smoking advert is too scary? but in reality, unless we want our generation to suffer, the truth is as painful as can be seen.

Just a quick update on myself, I'm currently working for EmitAsia, waiting for Uni to start.
working is a love hate relationship, where you begin to hate what you loved, or you love what you hate, whichever the case, i believe this theory holds!

Life is happening all around you but what is that to you if it all amounts to nothing in the end, if u do not know who's the one that is the life giver.
